What is SUCCESS?

  • The SUCCESS in Health & Wellness among African American Breast & Endometrial Cancer Survivors with Diabetes Study (SUCCESS) is a lifestyle intervention study that uses coaching calls, in-person exercise sessions and web based tools to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyle behaviors in the context of female cancer survivorship.
  • The purpose of SUCCESS is to support participants in their efforts to increase their physical activity.
  •  The goal is for participants to achieve 30 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity five times a week.

What does SUCCESS involve?

  • Everyone will receive their usual medical care.  We will recruit 10 women to complete a 60-minute semi-structured interview and 25 women to participate in a 4-month multi-modal lifestyle intervention.
  • If you participate in an interview, a researcher will meet with you individually for 60 minutes and ask you a range of questions.  This information will help the researcher team learn more about the delivery preferences and preferred components of a physical activity and healthy lifestyle intervention from the perspective of breast and endometrial cancer survivors that also have diabetes.
  • If you participate in the lifestyle intervention, you will be asked to log into the study’s website weekly to complete web-based lessons, join in on coaching calls, and participate in in-person exercise sessions.
